There she was. A day in the life of Clarissa Dalloway, wife of a member of Parliament, and lady of London's high society, as she prepares for a party that evening. And, in parallel, the same day for Septimus Warren Smith, a suffering war veteran. Written in Woolf’s stream-of-consciousness style, Mrs Dalloway takes an equal interest in things large and small, and Woolf follows her characters’ thoughts where they lead. It has been said that the novel was the first to split the atom in its elevation of the mundane to the meaningful. In public domain as of January 2021, Mrs Dalloway has seen a resurgence of interest recently, as pandemic life has seemed to make daily chores an adventure.
